1. UGA lands top running back

Zamir White, the nation’s top running back in the Class of 2018, committed to Georgia. The five-star back from Laurinburg, N.C., was also considerin­g Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina and Ohio State. C2

2. Game, set, match Serena

Serena Williams served up flaming tweets that deftly singed John McEnroe for saying “if she played the men’s circuit, she’d be like 700 in the world.” And, in case he missed her point about female empowermen­t, maybe McEnroe can pick up a copy of Vanity Fair, which features the nude and pregnant Williams on the cover. “Dear John I adore and respect you but please please keep me out of your statements that are not factually based,” she tweeted. “I’ve never played anyone ranked ‘there’ nor do I have time. Respect me and my privacy as I’m trying to have a baby. Good day sir.”

3. Lockhart’s son remains critical

Jason Lockhart, the 15-yearold son of former Brave Keith Lockhart, remained in critical condition Tuesday. He was hit in the face with a baseball June 17 while crossing home plate during a game in South Carolina. He was placed on life support Friday at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta. Jason, who was in a paralytic state to stop more bleeding, had surgery Tuesday. Lockhart on Twitter: “Jason just came out of surgery Dr.’s located 3 areas of bleeding & stopped the flow of blood. We are all encouraged about today!”

4. Bartolo Colon to start tonight

Bartolo Colon (2-7, 7.78 ERA) is set to come off the DL to start for the Braves tonight against the Padres. Manager Brian Snitker was noncommita­l on what happens after this week, as the Braves will use six starters on this six-day West Coast trip to San Diego and Oakland.

5. Williams gets Sager award

Monty Williams, a former coach and current Spurs vice president of basketball operations, won the inaugural Sager Strong Award for his perseveran­ce through a tragic loss. Williams’ wife, Ingrid, was killed in a car crash last season while Williams was an assistant coach in Oklahoma City. Williams is the father of five children. The award is named after Turner Sports reporter and long-time Atlanta resident Craig Sager.
