A weekend crash killed two people and injured four others in Gwinnett County.

Officers and emergency workers responded to the accident about 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Kenvilla Drive and Lawrenceville Highway, Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

A 2016 Honda Accord heading south on Ga. 8 was approaching Kenvilla Drive in the right lane when a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe heading north came to the same intersection, according to a Gwinnett crash report.

The Tahoe, which was in a center lane, was attempting a left turn in front of the Accord when the two collided.

The Accord spun clockwise, left the road and hit a power pole, according to the report. The Tahoe spun counter clockwise and was knocked into the southbound lanes of Ga. 8.

“Two people were trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools,” Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.

One of those people was identified as Sani Velani, 16, of Tucker. He was driving the Accord and died on the scene, officials said.

Kiara Oliver, 37, of Norcross, drove the Tahoe. And Taha Muhammed, 15, of Tucker was a passenger in the Accord.

Both were taken to Atlanta Medical Center with injuries, according to the crash report.

Rutesh Kakadiya, 16, of Lilburn, and Afaan Asif — other passengers in the Accord — were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. Asif, 15, of Tucker, later died.

There were no passengers in the Tahoe, police said.
