4 events to check out in August
In August, try out foods from other cultures, help a restaurant celebrate its birthday with a Lowcountry boil and get your peach fix in downtown Atlanta.
Travel to Israel without leaving Atlanta
Get a taste of the Middle East at two pop-up dinners from Souper Jenny’s Jenny Levison and Linda Harrell, the executive chef at Food 101 and Cibo e Beve. “Ode to Israeli Cuisine” will see the pair collaborate on appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts including hummus, fried kibbe, grilled branzino over chickpea stew and warm chocolate babka. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Zadie Project, Levison’s organization that feeds soup to families and children in need.

Check out an event that’s just peachy
Loving all things peach is virtually a requirement for living in Georgia, and the inaugural PeachFest 2017 will help you celebrate the iconic edible, along with other food grown and produced in the state. Held in the Fairlie Poplar neighborhood in downtown
Atlanta, the festival will feature a variety of peach inspired food and drinks using produce from local farms and cooked up by local chefs, including peach- and lard-infused sweets, peach beers and peach and charcuterie flatbreads. Participants include Pearson Farm, the Turnip Truck and chefs Terry Koval of Wrecking Bar and Bryan Furman of B’s Cracklin’ BBQ. The event will also offer a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit Piggy Bank, an organization that protects heritage breed pigs and supports local family farms.

Cheers to six years
Help Table & Main celebrate six years in business with a Backyard Party held in the restaurant’s back parking lot. Enjoy live music and all-you-can-eat Lowcountry boil prepared by chef Woolery Back and Meating Street BBQ’s Brian Keenan. Drink specials will also be available for purchase, and the restaurant will also be open for regular service.

Get a taste of South Korea in Gwinnett
If you’re a fan of Korean food, don’t miss the Seoul of the South Korea Food Tour. Participants will visit four Korean restaurants or bakeries and get a greeting from the chef and culture and cuisine tips at each stop. They’ll also go home with a swag bag featuring a Korean beauty product, Korean snacks and a dining guide with additional restaurant recommendations. Can’t make the August tour? There’ll be one more opportunity to take the tour in September.
