PGA to shuffle golf season

The PGA Championsh­ip is moving to May for the first time in 70 years when it goes to Bethpage Black in New York in 2019, according to The Associated Press. The move from August to May has been in the works for the past four years, and it involves the Players Championsh­ip moving from May back to March. C4

Famous ‘Azalea’ hole may grow

Augusta National Golf Club purchased land from the neighborin­g Augusta Country Club for a possible expansion of the 13th hole, according to the Augusta Chronicle. The 510-yard par 5, known as Azalea and very short by major championsh­ip golf standards, was last lengthened in 2002 after a land exchange with ACC. Augusta National will pay for changes to the eighth and ninth holes at ACC affected by the deal.

Don Baylor, 1949-2017

Don Baylor, the 1979 AL MVP with the California Angels who went on to become manager of the year with the Colorado Rockies in 1995, died Monday of cancer. Chipper Jones says Baylor, as Braves hitting coach in 1999, had a key role in Jones’ MVP season. C2-3 ■ Former Phillies All-Star catcher Darren Daulton died Sunday. He was 55. C3

Wilfork takes up the apron

Former New England and Houston defensive tackle Vince Wilfork announced his retirement from the NFL in a barbecue commercial Monday, a fitting farewell for a big guy who loved to eat. Wilfork tweeted a video showing him untaping his ankles, hanging up his cleats and grabbing grilling tongs. The video then shows the 35-year-old defender dancing, cooking ribs and smoking a cigar while wearing his trademark overalls. C3

Little Leaguer a hit on web

A video of 13-year-old Jayce Blalock’s moonshot grand slam Sunday in a Little League regional went viral Monday. The homer by Blalock, from Peachtree City, cleared a hill outside the fence and landed in some trees.
