Eason out, but two Bulldogs will return

-

Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason will not play this Saturday night at Notre Dame after being diagnosed with a sprained knee ligament, coach Kirby Smart said Monday. There is no firm timetable for the sophomore’s return. Eason will not require surgery, Smart added, and said the team felt “fortunate” that Eason’s injury wasn’t worse.

“We expect a full recovery this season,” Smart said. “Jacob will be week to week from this point forward.”

Cornerback Aaron Davis (hamstring) and right guard Solomon Kindley (ankle) are likely to make the trip to play Notre Dame this Saturday night, Smart said. But cornerback Malkom Parrish remains “week to week” with a foot injury that caused him to miss the season opener against Appalachian State, although this past Saturday he was in a walking boot and using crutches.

Davis started at left cornerback against Appalachian State, then came out in the first half because of the ham- string injury. The former walk-on has started 31 games over the past four years, playing basically every position in the secondary.

Kindley, the first-team ri g ht guard throughout preseason, did not play on the offensive line Saturday because of the ankle injury. But while Smart indicated that Kindley is healthier this week, he also indicated it’s not certain whether he will be ready to start on Saturday.
