Kia storms onto luxury car stage

- By Olivia Olsen

One typically does not associate the finer things in life with the Kia brand and its fleet, but the affordable manufacturer has a trick or two up its sleeve. With the all-new, fully redesigned 2017 K900, the brand’s luxury offering, drivers can soak up Kia safety features and reliability infused with the finer things in life.

Created as the successor to the South Korean car company’s former showboat, the Kia Opirus (or Amanti in some markets), after its retirement in 2010, the K9 series debuted first in South Korea in 2012. After welcome reviews in its home country, the K9 spread to the Middle East, Colombia, Guatemala, Peru, Russia, the United States, and Canada.

Though sometimes operating under a different name, the Kia K900 is recognizable and distinct no matter the title given. The car is even known in the Matrix, as Laurence Fishburne -- reprising his role of Morpheus -- helped launch the vehicle in adverts.

As a premium, world-class sedan, the K900 boasts a functional blend of athleticism and beauty. From its aerodynamic curves to the extended front grille designed to optimize airflow, the vehicle is sure to accelerate and perform with ease. An available Dynamic Bending Light option also illuminates the roads with intuition, knowing how to change with speed and angle. The K900 isn’t all about functionality, with crisp clean lines and killer curves, the vehicle’s body is enough to evoke envy from every other driver on the road.

Luxury is all about comfort, and the K900 does not skimp where it counts. Working with an abundance of space, the K900’s interior is meant to ensure that everyone has legroom -- and room in general -- no matter where they rank in the car seat hierarchy. The driver’s seat also allows for a 16-way adjustable seat with power lumbar support. In addition, the K900 comes with available heated and ventilated front and rear seats with optional power-reclining rear seats with Air Cell Lumbar Support to make any drive a more enjoyable, comfort-filled experience for all those in the vehicle.

With a foam padded and insulated cabin, the K900 is sure to be among the quietest, smoothest rides you’ve experienced. A panoramic sunroof also allows for soft, natural light to illuminate the cabin throughout the day.

The K900 doesn’t rest at style and comfort; it’s also an innovator in its class. Beginning with water-repelling hydrophobic glass and an audio system designed by Grammy Award-winning Harmon, the vehicle is primed for excellence.

What’s more, a fully customizable heads-up display allows drivers to project the stats they care most about right onto the windshield, while the technology automatically controls brightness depending on the weather.

A 9.2-inch touch screen display with voice command for infotainment and telematics create an ease of use while downloading the UVO app onto your smartphone will help send navigation and diagnostics between devices and can even transmit your location to Kia’s 24-hour roadside assistance.

An available surround-view monitor will not only alert you to all of the blind spots and lane departures you may encounter, but also create an ease for parking, with a bird’s eye monitor to give an extra push.

With all the luxury and bells and whistles of the more prominent luxury brands, this brand-new 2017 Kia K900 is luxury completely unexpected.
