Holiday season for toys? It’s starting

Walmart, Amazon lists of top 2017 kids’ gifts are already released.

Summer has yet to officially end but the holiday train is already moving.

Walmart and Amazon have both released their top holiday toy lists.

Walmart announced its list of top 25 kid approved holiday toys for 2017 along with a notice that its fee-free layaway program is now open.

It should come as a surprise to no one that Hatchimals, the interactiv­e toy that turned last holiday season upside down, are coming back this year with a big surprise to be announced on Oct. 6.

Also in the category of top interactiv­e toys, expect to see Fingerling­s, interactiv­e baby monkeys that fit on your finger and FurReal Friends Roarin’ Tyler The Playful Tiger, a $130 pet tiger that roars in response to sounds and touch. Other interactiv­e favorites are:

■ Star Wars Droid Inventor Kit by littleBits

■ Num Noms Nail Polish Maker

■ Barbie DreamHorse and Doll

■ Fisher-Price Zoom ’n Crawl Monster

■ L.O.L. Surprise Fizz Factory

■ Soggy Doggy Board Game

■ Mayka Toy Block Tape Ride-on toys are more popular than ever, according to Walmart’s panel of kid testers. Standouts include a Frozen Sleigh, Monster Jam Grave Digger and the Huffy Electric Green Machine Trike. Rounding out the list are:

■ Adventure Force Light Command Light-Up Motorized Blaster

■ Nerf Rival Nemesis MXVII10K

■ RECOIL Starter Set

■ New Bright Radio Control Tumblebee

■ VTech Pop-a-Balls Drop and Pop Ball Pit

■ Radio Control DashCam

■ Dusty the Super Duper Garbage Truck

The final category is made up of toys that allow kids to play as their favorite characters from TV shows such as Paw Patrol, Batman, Cars 3 and more. Top toys in this category include:

■ Imaginext DC Super Friends Batman Batbot Xtreme

■ Paw Patrol My Size Lookout Tower

■ Disney/Pixar Cars 3 Ultimate Florida Speedway

■ Mickey and the Roadster Racers Transformi­ng Hot Rod Mickey

Amazon for the first time ever, released a preview of the top 100 toys and games for the holiday season.

Amazon is also offering quick access to the top 25 toys. There is some overlap between the Amazon and Walmart lists including Fingerling­s and FurReal Roarin’ Tyler, though some items are exclusive to each retailer.
