Forum, debate set for candidates Sept. 26

With six people qualifying in the Roswell City Council special election for a vacated seat in Post 3, the Nov. 7 ballot is complete, and voters will have opportunit­ies in the coming weeks to familiariz­e themselves with the mayor and council candidates.

A Mayoral Candidate Forum is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 38 Hill St. The Roswell Women’s Club, Positively Roswell and Roswell Next are hosts. Deadline for e-mailed questions for the candidates is noon Sept. 22 to CandidateQ­uestions@RoswellWom­ansClub.org. Questions also will be taken before the forum begins.

A City Council Candidates’ Debate is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 at High Meadows School, 1055 Willeo Road. Positively Roswell and Roswell Next are hosting the event in cooperatio­n with the Roswell Woman’s Club.

Six candidates qualified during a special qualifying period for the Post 3 council seat being vacated by Donald J. Horton, who is running for mayor: Hanny Alexander, Bassem Fakhoury, Sean A. Groer, Mike Nyden, Joe Piontek and George Vail.

The mayoral candidates are Horton, Post 4 Councilwom­an Lori Henry and Michael Litten, Sandra Sidhom and Lee Jenkins. Other council candidates are Marie Willsey, Andrew Leonardi and Meg M. McClanahan in Post 4; Keith Goeke and Matthew C. Tyser in Post 5; and Matt Judy, Karen Parrish and Gus Hadorn in Post 6.
