Bruins sign Pastrnak to 6-year, $40M deal

The Boston Bruins signed David Pastrnak to a six-year contract worth $40 million. The forward had career highs with 34 goals, 70 points and a plus-11 last season.

Jets: Forward Bryan Little agreed to a six-year contract extension with an average value of $5.29 million, starting next season. He has 184 goals and 248 assists in 672 games.

Wild: Agreed with restricted free-agent winger Marcus Foligno on a fouryear, $11.5 million contract. He was acquired in a June trade with the Buffalo Sabres.

Auto racing: With the street circuit suited to Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel hopes to reclaim the Formula One championsh­ip lead from Lewis Hamilton on Sunday night at the Singapore Grand Prix. Vettel secured six straight podiums on Singapore’s floodlit Marina Bay street circuit until his run ended last year.

College basketball: Villanova guard Phil Booth is healthy and ready to play after missing almost all of last season with a knee injury. He was the leading scorer in Villanova’s national championsh­ip win over North Carolina.

WNBA: Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles was named the league’s most valuable player.

Cycling: The Giro d’Italia will open next year’s event in Israel, marking the first time any leg of the sport’s Grand Tours will take place outside of Europe. It will be the biggest sporting event ever held in Israel.

Obituary: Gary Wadler, 78, one of the leaders in the fight against performanc­e-enhancing drugs in sports, died of a neurologic­al disease in Port Washington, New York.
