■ Community training program for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE). 6-8 p.m. Oct. 17. Free. First Baptist Church of Canton, 1 Mission Point, Canton. The Canton Police Department and the church will host this course that is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy that was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcemen­t Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University. Agency instructor­s will provide strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active-shooter event.
