Johnson leads by a stroke at WGC event in Shanghai

Koepka is second after two rounds of HSBC tourney.

Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, close friends who live down the street from each other in Florida, are in the final group going into the weekend at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai. They are separated by one shot, so it might feel like one of their money matches when they play together at home.

There’s just one problem with that. “We don’t really play much golf,” Johnson said after his 9-under 63 for a one-shot lead Friday at Sheshan International. “We go to the gym and we hang out, but we don’t go to the golf course together. We played last Saturday, and that was the first time we played in … I couldn’t tell you how long. All year, probably.”

That figures to change at the final World Golf Championships event of the year.

Two of Johnson’s closing birdie putts were in the 15-foot range, and he finished with a 5-foot slider on the 18th to reach 13-under 131.

Koepka, who led after the first round with a 64, birdied two of his last three holes for a 68.

Champions: David Toms had a hole-in-one in his round of 6-under 66 to share the first-round lead with Jeff Maggert at the PowerShares QQQ Championship. Toms used a 5-iron to ace the 188yard third hole at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

PGA Tour: Ryan Armour shot a 4-under 68 in Jackson, Miss., to take a one-shot lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Armour was at 10 under, with Tyrone Van Aswegen second after a 65.

LPGA: Feng Shanshan had three birdies before a lengthy rain delay and three more after it, shooting a 6-under 65 for a one stroke lead after the second round of the Sime Darby in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Feng was steady on both sides of the interruption to lead at 11-under 131. Madelene Sagstorm (66) was in second place, followed by Cristie Kerr (63) at 133.

Etc.: Tiger Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving in a deal that will keep him out of jail as long as he stays out of trouble, resolving charges from an arrest last spring in which he was found passed out in his Mercedes with prescription drugs and marijuana in his system. At hearing in a Palm Beach County courthouse, prosecutors dropped a charge of driving under the influence.
