City recognizes volunteers
Norcross has recognized the citizens who volunteer as mem- bers of the city’s boards and commissions. With close to 100 people in attendance Oct. 26 at the Boards and Commissions Appreciation Night, awards were presented to the 12 boards and commissions members.
In attendance were representatives from the Architectural Review Board, Discovery Garden Park, Elections Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Norcross Downtown Development Authority, Norcross Housing Authority, Norcross Public Arts Commission, Planning & Zoning Board, Planning & Zoning Board of Appeals, Sustainable Norcross Commission and the Tree Board. Special recognition was given to Connie Weathers, Sustainable Norcross Commission member, who was instrumental in Norcross being recognized by the Atlanta Regional Commission as one of only two Platinum-Certified Green Com- munities in the region.
Along with the support and efforts of city officials, Norcross Councilmember Pierre Levy spearheaded the event as a way for the city to show its gratitude and support for its many volunteers.
“Behind every successful city, there will be a network of volunteer citizens who care deeply about the city where they live, work and play and who are prepared to stand up and be counted,” said Councilmember Levy.
