Meet a hungry cookbook author and be a part of several dinners that benefit local organizati­ons.

Drink up in Acworth

Sample from more than 100 beers, as well as wine and cider, at the fourth annual Acworth Beer & Wine Fest. The event will also feature live music, games and food for purchase.

Find foraged food

The city becomes the producer of your meal during Concrete Jungle’s Finders Keepers Preservati­on Dinner, made with food foraged from around the city. The 10-course meal, designed by chef Philip Meeker of Bright Seed using fruits preserved over the course of the year, will get an assist from chef Ryan Smith of Staplehous­e and chef Sarah Dodge of 8Arm. The meal will be served with cocktails, wine and beer, and Julian Goglia of the Mercury will help kick off the event with his Jackie O apple cocktail.

In addition, Wild Heaven Beer will offer tastes of its upcoming barrel aged fruited quadrupel featuring apples, peaches, pears, persimmons, plums, mulberries and serviceber­ries foraged by Concrete Jungle. All proceeds will help fund fruit harvests in 2018, as well as the printing of the forthcomin­g “Taste of Concrete Jungle” cookbook.

Author discusses book

Author and founder of hungry-girl.com Lisa Lillien will appear at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta to discuss her 12th book, “Hungry Girl: Clean and Hungry Obsessed.” Lillien will discuss her brand and her book — which offers up low-calorie recipes for popular comfort and junk foods and desserts — with local TV and radio personalit­y Mara Davis, with a dessert reception featuring recipes from the book to follow.

Music and food

Chefs from across metro Atlanta will come together for Eats & Beats, which pairs food with live entertainm­ent from the Whiskey Gentry. Guests can sample food and drinks from local restaurant­s including Local Three, 4Rivers Smokehouse, Bhojanic and C. Ellet’s. All proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizati­ons Children of Conservati­on and the Giving Kitchen. A VIP option will get you in at 6 p.m. and give you access to a VIP suite with additional restaurant­s, premium bar and exclusive activities.

Meet local brewers

Butcher & Brew will host its first Butcher & Brew Fest, featuring unlimited tastings of seasonal craft brews and bites prepared on the Big Green Egg by chef Andy Long. Participat­ing local breweries include Creature Comforts, SweetWater, Gate City and Abbey of the Holy Goats. Tickets also include curated cocktails and games. Half of the proceeds will go to the Drake House, an organizati­on that provides short-term housing to mothers and children in need.

Chefs for a good cause

Better Half chef Zach Meloy and El Super Pan chef Hector Santiago will come together this month for a six-course collaborat­ive dinner with wine pairings. Participan­ts will be dining for a cause — a portion of the proceeds will go to Ser Familia, an organizati­on active in aiding hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

The menu will include dishes from Meloy such as Hearts of Palm Relleno with white bean puree, warm brown butter vinaigrett­e and coriander croquant and Guava Tart with cream cheese ice cream, preserved orange and candied jalapeño, with Santiago providing dishes such as Rice Crusted Trout with arroz con esencia de arroz con pollo, trout liver, cucumber and pimento trout roe and Yuca Gnudi, with caldo negro de calamar, calamar a la plancha and yuca leaf kimchi.

Become the host or hostess with the mostest at this class, which will teach you how to turn ingredient­s into a variety of small plates ideal for holiday parties. Start the night with a reception of wine and light appetizers, followed by the class and enjoying the prepared dishes and wine pairings. Additional wine will be available for purchase.
