Games for bonding as a family

- By Armin Brott and Samantha Feuss

These family board games will keep you laughing and learning.

Awkward Family Photos (Loaded Questions):

One player deals eight cards to all the other players. Each card has a line from a movie. The dealer then pulls an Awkward Family Photo card and players decide which of their movie line cards would make the best caption. Movie knowledge might help a little, but it’s by no means necessary. A good sense of humor, however, is essential. About $18. For 4-8 players, ages 12+. loadedquestions.com

Cranium Cadoo (Winning Moves Games):

The goal is to get four of your tokens in a row on the 4x4 game board. You do that by solving challenges that appear on two types of cards. Solo cards are done on your own, so you might need to translate a series of pictures into words. Combo cards might require you to sculpt or draw something that another player has to recognize. For ages 7+. About $21. www.winning-moves.com

Loaded Questions (Loaded Questions):

A fully updated version that’s even more fun than before. Read a Loaded Question that matches the color of the space your token is on. All the other players write down an answer to the question and someone reads those answers aloud. Then, you try to match each answer with the player you think wrote it. About $17. For 4-6 Players, ages 10+. loadedquestions.com
