Duke remains No. 1 in AP men’s poll

Duke, which beat then-No. 2 Michigan State 88-81 in Chicago last week, pulled in 54 of 65 first-place votes from a national media panel in the AP Top 25 men’s poll released Monday. Arizona was the only other team to receive a No. 1 vote, getting 11 first-place votes and taking the Spartans’ place at No. 2. Kansas moved up to third after beating then-No. 7 Kentucky, while Michigan State and Villanova rounded out the top 5.

In the women’s poll, No. 1 UConn (3-0) again received all 32 first-place votes. Texas, South Carolina and Louisville follow in the poll.

Monday’s Top 25 games

■ (At) No. 1 Duke 93, Furman 62: Marvin Bagley III scored 24 points as the Blue Devils (5-0) shot nearly 61 percent to beat the Paladins (2-2). Duke outscored Furman 64-28 in the paint, and has won all four of its games at Cameron Indoor Stadium by at least 17 points.

■ No. 6 Wichita State 92, California 82: Shaquille Morris had 25 points, and Landry Shamet scored 23 as the Shockers (3-0) rallied from an 18-point, second-half deficit to beat the Bears (2-2) in the Maui Invitation­al. Don Coleman scored 35 for Cal.

■ No. 8 Kentucky vs. Troy: Late

■ No. 9 North Carolina at Stanford: Late

■ No. 12 Cincinnati vs. Buffalo: Late

■ No. 13 Notre Dame at Chaminade: Late

■ No. 16 Texas A&M 72, Oklahoma State 55: Robert Williams had 11 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks to lead the Aggies (3-0) past the Cowboys (3-1) at the Progressiv­e Legends Classic in New York.

■ No. 22 Baylor vs. Wisconsin: Late

■ Creighton 100, No. 23 UCLA 89: Marcus Foster had 23 points, and Mitch Ballock scored 22 to lead the Bluejays (4-0) past the Bruins (3-1) in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Mo. Aaron Holiday had 25 points for UCLA.

■ (At) No. 23 West Virginia 91, Long Beach State 62: Lamont West was a point shy of a career high with 22 as the Mountainee­rs (3-1) routed the 49ers (2-2).

Noteworthy: Tim Duncan and John Stockton headlined the 2017 class inducted into the Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in Kansas City, Mo. Others inducted included Duke’s Jay Williams, Indi- ana’s Scott May, Purdue’s Rick Mount, Cleo Hill of Winston-Salem State, Creighton’s Paul Silas and longtime Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan.
