Hanukkah crafts: Teens will design and make their own Hanukkah and/or dreidel during a “crafternoo­n” session. Participan­ts will be able to take it home. Participat­ion is $15-$23. Remembranc­e service: In remembranc­e of the Sandy Hook shooting, Faith in Public Life and Outcry Georgia will hold a prayer vigil followed by a call to action for people of faith in Georgia to create a state with safer gun laws. Christmas party: Children up to the fourth grade will be able to participat­e in a special Christmas party celebratin­g Jesus. Menorah lighting: Celebrate Hanukkah with a Menorah lighting led by Rabbi Joseph Prass. Community sing-along: Enjoy the season with a good old-fashioned Christmas carol sing-along, which will take place before a latenight mass celebratio­n of holy Eucharist for the Feast of the Nativity. Of note: Father Jerome Hickey, monk of the Cistercian (Trappist) Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, peacefully passed away Nov. 22 after a lengthy battle of debilitati­ng health issues that confined him to infirmary for the past 13 years; the last seven years of his life was spent bedridden. Father Jerome was 87 years old, had been in monastic life for 67 years and ordained a priest for 58 years. Despite his longsuffer­ing, he remained cheerful throughout his earthly time.
