Phillies give Santana a $60 million deal

First baseman Carlos Santana became the first of the offseason’s big-name free agents to find a new home, reportedly agreeing Friday to a $60 million, three-year contract with the Phillies.

Santana became the first to reach a deal among the nine free agents who last month rejected $17.4 million qualifying offers.

Philadelph­ia also traded shortstop Freddy Galvis to San Diego for minor league pitcher Enyel De Los Santos and finalized two-year deals with relievers Tommy Hunter and Pat Neshek.

Santana hit 23 home runs with 79 RBIs for Cleveland, where he spent all eight of his big league seasons.

Angels: Infielder Zack Cozart agreed to a $38 million, three-year contract and is likely to shift from shortstop to third base. Cozart has a .254 average in seven seasons, all with Cincinnati.

Astros: Reliever Hector Rondon agreed to an $8.5 million, two-year contract. He spent the past five years with the Cubs, where he had a 3.22 ERA and 77 saves.

Rockies: Finalized $27 million, three-year contracts with right-hander Bryan Shaw and lefty Jake McGee.

Giants: Reportedly agreed to trade left-hander Matt Moore to Texas for prospects.

Twins: Confirmed the sig n ing of right-han d ed reliever Fernando Rodney to a one-year contract.

Rangers: Finalized pitcher Chris Martin’s $4 million, two-year contract.

Tigers: Former pitcher Frank Lary, who won 21 games in 1956, died in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 87.

Etc.: A defamation lawsuit filed by Pete Rose last year against lawyer John Dowd, who got him kicked out of baseball, was dismissed in Philadelph­ia.
