Dimitrov, Kyrgios reach Brisbane final

Top-seeded Grigor Dimitrov beat Kyle Edmund 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-4 in the Brisbane (Australia) Internatio­nal quarterfin­als Friday to set up a semifinal meeting today with No. 3-seeded Nick Kyrgios, who rebounded for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over former finalist Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Teenage wild-card entry Alex De Minaur followed up his upset victory over Milos Raonic with a routine 6-4, 6-0 win over Michael Mmoh to reach his first tour-level semifinal. The 18-year-old De Minaur will play Ryan Harrison, who led 7-6 (6), 4-2 when Denis Istomin retired from their quarterfin­al match with a hip strain.

Hopman Cup: Angelique Kerber won her singles and contribute­d heavily in the deciding mixed doubles victory that gave Germany a 2-1 win over host Australia and a spot in the Hopman Cup final against Switzerlan­d.

Kerber beat Australia’s Daria Gavrilova 6-1, 6-2, and she and fellow German Alexander Zverev will face Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic in Perth, Australia, today for the title.

Germany has won the Hopman Cup twice, but not since Boris Becker and Anke Huber teamed up in 1995.

Shenzhen (China) Open: Defending champion Katerina Siniakova defeated Maria Sharapova 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in her first meeting with the fivetime major winner.

The sixth-seeded Siniakova hit 10 aces to set up a final today with top-ranked Simona Halep, who beat fourth-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu 6-1, 6-4.

Maharashtr­a Open: Gilles Simon recovered from a slow start to beat top-seeded Marin Cilic 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 in one semifinal at the outdoor hardcourt event in Pune, India.

Second-seeded Kevin Anderson survived a scare in the other semifinal before beating fourth-seeded Benoit Paire 6-7 (6), 7-6 (2), 6-1 in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Qatar Open: Andrey Rublev saved a match point to reach his second career ATP Tour final with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (2) win over Guido Pella.

Rublev will play Gael Monfils, who reached the final in Doha without hitting a ball in the semifinals when topseeded Dominic Thiem withdrew from the tournament because of illness.
