Q: OneStreet Residential, building Hearthside Lafayette, a senior living project in Fayetteville, received $2,618,061 for a Tax Allocation District from the city of Fayetteville. I now read that they “were awarded federal and state tax credits from the Department of Community Affairs (DCA).” How much were they given in tax support to build this project? —Tony V. Parrott, Fayetteville
A: In January 2017, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs awarded Hearthside Lafayette $1 million in federal and state housing tax credits to finance the development of 125 new afford- able rental homes for senior citizens in Fayetteville, a spokeswoman for the department told Q&A on the News via email.
The housing credits are allocated to investors who provide cash for the development and construction of affordable rental homes, she added.
