Waffle House fails check

A Waffle House in Cumming failed a recent health inspection.

According to the inspector, the person in charge on Jan. 31 wasn’t properly trained in food service management. Health code violations included: The final rinse in the dishwashin­g machine was not reaching proper temperatur­e of 160 degrees or greater.

■ Dining tables were not being cleaned properly (spray bottle with cloth). Also, there was no measurable sanitizer in the spray bottle.

■ Cold-stored foods were being held at 44-57 degrees. The person in charged was advised cold foods must be held at 41 degrees or below.

■ Hot foods were being held at 125-126 degrees. The person in charge was advised hot foods must be held at 135 degrees or greater.

■ Milk that had expired on Jan. 30 was stored in the reach-in cooler and the walk-in cooler.

■ Syrup and an ice bucket were stored at vegetable sink which should only be used for produce prep and thawing or cooling of ready to eat foods.

Restaurant­s with failing inspection scores are generally re-inspected within 10 days.
