Music producer’s brother fatally shot
The brother of popular Atlanta music producer Drumma Boy has died in a shooting outside the man’s clothing boutique in northwest Atlanta, according to Atlanta police.
Drumma Boy confirmed the death on Instagram.
“I lost the first person I ever looked up (to) in life,” he said, “the first person I ever wanted to be like ... my big blood-brother.”
Atlanta police officers responding to a call about a shooting arrived to the 1700 block of Howell Mill Road, where the boutique is located, just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Officer Lisa Bender said.
They found Miles Ferrell, 48, of Atlanta, injured with a shotgun on him, authorities said.
It is unclear why he had the shotgun or whether he had fired at the shooter.
“Witnesses reported that the decedent and another unknown male were engaged in a heated verbal dispute outside the location, which escalated into gunfire,” Bender said.
The shooter sped away from the scene in a black sedan.
The shotgun was taken from Ferrell before emergency response workers could attempt life-saving measures, Bender said. He was then taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Bender said.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
