Speaking will be Southeast Regional Manager Sheri Jackson of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program from the National Park Service. ■ National Park Service: Winter Owl Prowl. 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday. Free. Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center, 8615 Barnwell Road, Johns Creek. Live owl programs, on the upper deck of the center’s lodge, will be presented by a Chattahoochee Nature Center naturalist followed by National Park ranger-guided night hikes in the forest. Roast marshmallows around an open fire, listen to ranger stories and songs and learn about the wildlife of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and their nocturnal habits. “Ranger recipe hot apple cider” and free Chattahoochee River Journals with wildlife lists and paw prints will be provided. ■ Olympic Exploration: Homeschool Headquarters. 1-3 p.m. Monday. Free. Hampton Park Library, 5345 Settingdown Road, Cumming. Go on a virtual field trip to PyeongChang, South Korea, the site of the 2018 Winter Olympics. Explore South Korean culture with a craft and a snack. Participate in a scavenger hunt to learn about countries that send teams to participate in the Olympic Games. Wacky Winter Olympics will complete the afternoon. With this new monthly series of programs for homeschooled families, the program location will rotate among the branches of the Forsyth County Public Library.
