A man was shot, another was arrested and an off-duty Atlanta police officer ended up dodging gunfire Thursday after a fight between two tattoo parlor workers.

In the incident in Little Five Points, Keith Wood, 38, was arrested on two charges of aggravated assault, one against a peace officer, Atlanta police Officer Lisa Bender said.

The incident started when the off-duty officer witnessed the fight unfold between Wood and a 49-year-old man just before 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Euclid Avenue, Bender said.

The officer was working a security shift at the Aisle 5 music venue when the fight quickly escalated to gunfire, Bender said.

The unidentified man involved was injured in the thigh.

Wood, who is accused of shooting the man, ran away from the scene, police said.

The officer chased him to an alley next to the tattoo parlor, where Wood then fired at the officer multiple times, police said.

“Fortunately, the officer was not hit,” Capt. Andrew Senzer told Channel 2 Action News.

The officer also didn’t return fire, police said.

Instead, other police officers responding to the scene arrested Wood after he hopped a fence, Bender said.

“A handgun and shell casings were recovered,” she said.

The injured man was taken to Atlanta Medical Center. He is in stable condition, according to police.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from an ongoing feud between the two (men who fought),” Bender said. “The investigation is ongoing.”
