Report: Martin had multiple weapons

-

Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin had multiple weapons in his vehicle hours after posting a cryptic, threatening message on his Instagram page last month.

According to a TMZ report, court documents — filed after Martin was taken into custody on Feb. 23 following a post he made threatening his California high school, two high school classmates and two of his former Dolphins teammates — claim California police officials found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a large knife, an ax and a cell phone in Martin’s vehicle.

A second shotgun was also found at his parents’ home.

The TMZ report states police officials say they found Martin after getting a call about a “suicidal male with a gun” at a hospital in Glendale, Calif. Martin was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold in a hospital.

Martin, a victim in the bullying scandal that engulfed the Dolphins’ 2013 season, last month posted a picture of a shotgun and a dozen shell casings spread around with words that read: “when you’re a bully victim and a coward, your options are suicide or revenge.”

Broncos-Rams: Denver has agreed to trade former Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib to Los Angeles for a fifth-round pick in April’s draft, NFL Network and ESPN reported Thursday night.

The Rams agreed last month to acquire cornerback Marcus Peters in a trade with Kansas City, and Los Angeles used its franchise tag on safety Lamarcus Joyner. Those moves likely mean top cornerback Trumaine Johnson will leave as a free agent.

The Rams also added another cornerback Thursday, signing former Packers starter Sam Shields. Shields made 23 interceptions, including the playoffs, from 2010-2015. But his 2016 season was cut short after one game after he suffered a concussion and he didn’t play at all in 2017.

Titans: Announced the release of running back DeMarco Murray, who ran for an AFC-leading 1,287 yards and nine touchdowns in 2016, his first year with the Titans. Murray, 30, ran for 659 yards and six touchdowns last season as Derrick Henry gradually took a bigger role and Murray dealt with a knee injury. He was due to make a $6.25 million base salary in 2018.

49ers: Rewarded wide receiver Marquise Goodwin for his career-best season by giving him a three-year contract extension worth $20.3 million. The deal runs through the 2021 season and guarantees him $10 million, according to NFL Network.

Texans: Signed punter Shane Lechler to a contract extension. The 18-year veteran comes off one of his finest seasons, finishing second in net punting yards (3,799) and punting average (49.0).
