Leading scorer Guy returns to lift Virginia

With leading scorer Kyle Guy back following a brief injury scare, the nation’s No. 1 team is off to a strong postseason start.

Guy and Virginia looked like healthy favorites on Thursday, beating Louisville 75-58 in the quarterfin­als of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.

Guy scored 19 points in his speedy return after a sprained left knee and the top-seeded Cavaliers (29-2) weathered a late charge by the Cardinals (20-13).

Texas Tech 73, Texas 69: Keenan Evans led the No. 14 Red Raiders with 26 points while Jacob Young had 29 for Texas (19-14) in the Big 12 Tournament.

Duke 88, Notre Dame 70: Marvin Bagley III scored 33 points and had 17 rebounds for the No. 5 Blue Devils (266), who stretched a fourpoint lead over the Irish (2014) out after halftime in the ACC Tournament.

Villanova 94, Marquette 70: Mikal Bridges scored 25 points for the No. 2 Wildcats (28-4), who ran away from the Warriors (19-13) in the second half. in the Big East Tournament

Kansas 82, Oklahoma State 68: Malik Newman scored a career-high 30 points, their backup big men made up for the absence of injured center Udoka Azubuike, and coach Bill Self ’s squad pulled away in the second half. Svi Mykhailiuk added 13 points for the No. 9 Jayhawks (25-7), who were swept by the Cowboys (19-14) in the regular season.

Xavier 88, St. John’s 60: Trevon Bluiett scored 27 points, Kaiser Gates had 16 and No. 3 Xavier (28-4) rolled in the Big East Tournament. St. John’s is 16-17.

Kansas State 66, TCU 64 (OT): Barry Brown converted the go-ahead lay-up with 11.2 seconds left as the Wildcats (22-10) topped the Horned Frogs (21-11) in the SEC Tournament.

Clemson 90, Boston College 82: Gabe DeVoe scored 25 points and Shelton Mitchell had 21 as No. 19 Clemson advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2011 by beating the Eagles (19-15).

Alabama 71, Texas A&M 70: Collin Sexton drove the length of the court in the final seconds and hit a floater at the buzzer to lift ninthseede­d Alabama (18-14) in the SEC Tournament.

Georgia 62, Missouri 60: Yante Maten scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Georgia (18-14) spoiled the return of freshman Michael Porter Jr. for Missouri (2012) in the SEC Tournament

Arizona 83, Colorado 67: Allonzo Trier scored 22 points, Dusan Ristic had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and the Wildcats (25-70 used a big second-half run in defeating over Colorado (17-15) in the Pac-12 quarterfin­als.

Nevada 79, UNLV 74: Jordan Caroline had 21 points and 10 rebounds as the 22nd-ranked Wolf Pack (276) erased a 12-point deficit in the second half to defeat UNLV (20-13) in the Mountain West Conference.

UCLA 88, Stanford 77: Aaron Holliday had 34 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Bruins (2110) in the Pac-12 Tournament. Stanford (18-15) pulled within four by halftime, but couldn’t close the gap.
