CID awarded funding for Loop Trail study

- KAREN HUPPERTZ FOR THE AJC

The Atlanta Regional Commission will award $100,000 to the Sugarloaf Community Improvement District to complete a scoping study for the Loop Trail project. This study is for a section of a trail that will connect the Gwinnett Place area and McDaniel Farm Park to the Infinite Energy Center, Peachtree Ridge Park, and Suwanee’s trail system.

“The Loop Trail is an exciting part of Gwinnett’s new master trails plan that envisions up to 320 miles of walking/biking trails throughout the county by 2040,” said District 1 Commissioner Jace Brooks.

Finds for the study are part of an amendment to the ARC’s Transportation Implementation Program slated for final adoption this month. Total cost of the study is $125,000, with a local match provided by the Sugarloaf CID and Gwinnett. Information: www.sugarloafcid.org.
