Board approves $374K in public safety equipment

The Henry County Board of Commission­ers voted at its March 6 regular meeting to approve three separate public safety measures totaling just over $374,000.

The purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus and other equipment for the Henry County Fire Department from Municipal Emergency Services was approved at a cost of $122,217.04 after the initial funding was approved last August. Also approved for the Henry County Police Department were the purchase of Panasonic Toughbooks for nine Ford pursuit utility vehicles and 10 Dodge Chargers for $69,991.63.

The final motion was for the purchase of other equipment to outfit those HCPD vehicles at a cost of $181,888.
