A man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of beating, sexually assaulting and force-feeding children, according to The Rome News-Tribune.

Mark David Wagner, 41, physically and sexually abused two children for years and even had his friends torture them as if it were a game, officials said.

Floyd County Superior Court Judge Bryant Durham sentenced Wagner to life followed by 40 years of probation on aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and cruelty to children charges.

“I’ve seen a lot of cases of child molestation in 25 years, and this was the worst one,” Floyd County Assistant District Attorney Natalee Staats said.

The adoptive parents of the children told the News-Tribune the children are traumatized but doing well.
