Toiletry Drive for CHRIS 180, Inc. Through April 27. Hosts are DeKalb County Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling and the Decatur Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Throughout April, which is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month, both organizations are accepting toiletry donations to assist youths living in CHRIS 180 facilities. CHRIS 180 is a DeKalb County nonprofit organization that supports abused children in foster care by providing counseling, shelter, adoption services and a transitioning program for youths who have aged out of the foster system. On May 5, in recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and Child Abuse Prevention Month, Coleman-Stribling will work with teen volunteers to assemble the hygiene gift packs that go into “Welcome Kits” that CHRIS 180 provides to youths when they first arrive.
