FEB. 27: Atlanta police tell

the media that according to CDC employees, Cunningham had been upset during the days before his disappearance after learning he did not get a promotion. His mother tells The AJC it is unusual for her son not be in touch with his family.

MARCH 12: The CDC says initial reports that Cunningham had failed to get a promotion shortly before his disappearance were incorrect, and that he had received a promotion in July. But Atlanta police say the details about Cunningham’s job were provided by the CDC.

TUESDAY: Two fishermen call 911 to report seeing a body in the Chattahoochee River near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, about four miles from Cunningham’s home.

THURSDAY: Investigators identify the body as Cunningham, the Fulton County Medical Examiner says. Drowning is believed to be the cause of death, and foul play is not suspected.
