Woman tired of property being hit

An 84-year-old St o ne Mountain woman is sick of people driving into her house.

Bobbie Goza has had to file three home insurance claims in the past year because of damage caused from cars driving off the road and onto her property near the intersection of Rockbridge Road and W. Park Place, she told Channel 2 Action News.

“I am fed up with it,” Goza told Channel 2.

One driver plowed into a wrought-iron fence. Another struck a juniper tree and fled the scene. A third drove into the side of her home, leav- ing a massive hole in the brick wall.

Marlon Patterson, 43, was charged with DUI, reckless driving and failure to main- tain lane in connection with that crash.

Goza has asked the Gwin- nett County Department of Transportation to put up new signage and guardrails, or allow her to put large boulders on her own property as barriers.

The department con- ducted a traffic study at the intersection after Goza requested one, but concluded that no improve- ments were necessary.

“Our evaluation found traf- fic signage to be appropriate and adequate, and did not identify any improvements that the County could make at this time,” the study said.

That study was conducted in June 2017. Patter- son allegedly crashed into Goza’s home in March 2018.
