NHL notes

■ Oilers: CEO and vice chair Bob Nicholson said he still has full confidence in general manager Peter Chiarelli despite the team missing the playoffs. The same can’t be said for head coach Todd McLellan and his staff. After expressing support for the GM on Thursday, Chiarelli said the organizati­on has more thinking to do about the coaches.

■ Predators: Tossing catfish onto the ice has been a popular hockey tradition in Nashville, and the team now has its own catfish tank inside the arena. President Sean Henry unveiled the new tank hours before Thursday’s playoff opener.
