The Battery to get dinner-and-movie destinatio­n soon

Imagine, you might be able to watch a movie about profession­al baseball while peo- ple are playing actual profession­al baseball yards away.

That meta dream could become a reality if Silverspot Cinema has its way.

Silverspot, which opened its first movie theater in southwest Florida in 2009, has signed a le a se for a 38,000-square-foot theater at The Battery Atlanta, according to Beth Marshall, Braves spokeswoma­n.

When you buy your ticket, you’ll be given the option to pick out what you want to eat and drink, and once moviegoers check in, their order is set into motion, said Randi Emerman, vice president of programmin­g.

There will also be a full bar, she said.

On the menus of its other locations (The Battery would be the fifth), there are items like beef empanadas and a grilled portobello sandwich, but also $20 pan-seared salmon and shrimp pesto orecchiett­e.

You want tomato soup and an $18 charcuteri­e board with your flick? That’s available.

Silverspot also says it is different because of its focus on “independen­t and foreign” films and special event pro- gramming. Think the Metropolit­an Opera, Broadway musicals and rock concerts.

Fuqua Developmen­t, which also created The Battery, is handling the theater.

The project, “God willing,” will be done in 2019,” Emerman said, noting that the permitting process is not finalized. “We’re just really starting the process.”

Also at The Battery, the Braves are looking to sell the trio of apartment buildings that sit yards away from its new ballpark.

The communitie­s — named Residences, Parkside and Flats — are known collective­ly as “Home at The Battery Atlanta.”

The team said it listed the more than 530 residences for sale earlier this week. Pollack Shores, the developer, expects the sale to fetch up to $170 million, or $320,000 per unit.

Alan Wexler, the CEO of Databank Atlanta, said if the Braves were able to get $250,000 per unit, it would be “by far” the most expensive deal of its kind in recent memory in Cobb.

“This market is so hot, it is possible that they could get that and more,” Wexler said. “But the probable bet would be it would be somewhat below that.” A new theater is projected to be finished at The Battery Atlanta in 2019, according to Randi Emerman, Silverspot Cinema VP of programmin­g.
