Q: Why were Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter not at Barbara Bush’s funeral?

A: Former President Jimmy Carter was on a private trip overseas, and Rosalynn Carter was unable to travel because of her recent intestinal surgery, the AJC previously reported. She had scar tissue removed on Feb. 18 from “a portion of her small intestine caused by removal of a cyst many years ago,” according to a statement from The Carter Center.

George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were joined by former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton at Bush’s private funeral service Saturday in Houston. Former first ladies Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton and current first lady Melania Trump also attended and posed for a photo with the former presidents that was taken by photograph­er Paul Morse from George H.W. Bush’s office.

Q: Former first lady Barbara Bush was laid to rest next to her daughter, Robin, at the George Bush Presidenti­al Library in College Station, Texas. This library was dedicated in 1997; Robin, who died in 1953, was re-buried there in 2000. Where was she buried in 1953?

— Caroline Russu, Snellville A: Robin, who died of leukemia at age 3, was originally buried in Greenwich, Conn., in a family plot, according to reports in The Washington Post and other media outlets. Her body was moved to the library grounds in 2000.
