Marietta Square reveals 2 more restaurants

There are two new restaurants set to be a part of the proposed Marietta Square food hall, which has had its opening pushed back a season and a half.

Marietta Square Market was announced in late March 2017. The 18,000-squarefoot mixed-use complex is supposed to be like an OTP version of Atlanta spots Krog Street and Ponce City markets.

The estimated completion date listed on the Marietta Historic Board of Review application was March 31, 2018.

The market recently said on its Facebook page that it now expects a “late fall” opening.

The food hall will be situated inside the historic Marietta Station buildings at 68 N. Marietta Parkway NW, which would make it about a seven-minute walk from its namesake Square.

The market announced on its Facebook page about a week ago that Covington’s Bread and Butter bakery would be joining the roster, much of which was announced in November.

And on Sunday the commitment from Lucky’s Burgers and Brew, which has locations in Brookhaven and Roswell, came on Facebook.

The market is set to be just behind the William Root House Museum & Garden.

It would have room for three anchor restaurants and eight smaller kiosks between 400 and 800 square feet for eateries or shops.

The food hall will have an old train station theme, drawing on the county’s long locomotive history.

One of the vendors would be inside a restored 1922 curved-side streetcar made to look like the ones that ran from Marietta to Atlanta in the 1930s and ’40s.

The new market also has a plan to create 363 parking spots.

There are also plans for a central bar providing a variety of alcohol and craft beers.
