- By Arlinda Smith Broady abroady@ajc.com

All 21 of the Gwinnett County Public Schools high schools made one or more of the recently released AP Honors Schools list. Several schools were recognized in more than one category: Archer High, Dacula High, Grayson High and Mountain View High made the list in five of the six categories.

“We are proud that all 21 high schools were recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for honors in AP enrollment and achievement,” said Jonathan Patterson, associate superintendent for curriculum and instructional support. “Gwinnett County Public Schools has a culture of high expectations, and our students continue to challenge themselves by taking more AP courses and earn higher marks.”

AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit. The 2018 AP Honor Schools are named in six categories, based on the results of 2017 AP courses and exams.
