Q&A on the News

Q: Going over the list of people Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms requested letters of resignation from, I see functions I had not heard of as high-level city functions. What do these offices do: director of constituent services, director of sustainability, chief service officer, chief equity officer and senior policy advisor on real estate?

RICHARD CLARKE,

ATLANTA

A: The Office of Constituent Services serves as a customer service center and acts as “go-between to voice concerns, resolve complaints and address any other issues that may arise” with a city department or a neighborhood, according to the City of Atlanta website.

The director of sustainability is part of the city’s Office of Resilience, which the website says focuses on making Atlanta more resilient to economic, social and physical challenges.

The chief service officer manages philanthropy and volunteering programs through the management of a citywide service plan, Nikki Forman, the city’s interim communications director, told Q&A on the News.

The chief equity officer runs the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, which is the office responsible for the mayor’s diversity efforts, Forman said in an email. Bottoms announced the office, also called One Atlanta, in a May 2 speech.

Forman said the senior policy advisor on real estate oversees the Office of Enterprise Assets Management, which is responsible for properties such as City Hall, the city’s courthouses and its public safety facilities.
