Mom has plenty of activities today

- Staff report

This Mother’s Day, beloved moms everywhere will wake up to breakfasts in bed, homemade cards with adorably ghastly handwriting and phone calls from children who don’t live close. And let’s

not forget the frantic and apologetic calls some will receive from scatterbrained kids the next day.

In addition to all that, they’ll be offered free services simply for falling into the right category (mom) at the right time (Mother’s Day).

Here are few such places in metro Atlanta:

All moms shoot for free today at Stoddard’s Range and Guns. A “Mom Plus One” promotion is also offered, whereby moms who sign up for a private session can choose a guest to join her for free. The in-store purchase must be made between today, and the session must be redeemed by June 15. Stoddard’s has two locations: West Midtown, 485 Bishop St., and Douglasville, 5840 Bankhead Highway.

In addition to free admission today, the College Football Hall of Fame, 250 Marietta St. NW,

offer each mama a complimentary massage, manicure and mimosa.

Moms will bypass the normal $26 gate fee at Zoo Atlanta today with the purchase of any regularly-priced child or adult general admission ticket, or if accompanied by a Zoo Atlanta member (that’s up to two mothers per membership). In Loganville, runners can

choose between three different race lengths at the “Mother’s

Day Half Marathon, 10K and 5K” today. You can register for the race online. It starts at 7:30 a.m. and Bay Creek Park is located at 175 Ozora Road in Loganville.

The Gwinnett Stripers will take on the Norfolk Tides in a

1:05 p.m. game this afternoon. The game will be a“pink out” in honor of breast cancer awareness. Tickets are available starting at $8.

The team plays at Coolray Field, located at 2500 Buford Drive.

The whole family can enjoy an old-fashioned carnival. The Loganville Carnival today, features classic rides like the Scram

bler and a Ferris wheel, plus games and fair food. Parking is available at City Hall, located at 4303 Lawrenceville Road, and the carnival is right next door, near the intersection of Lawrenceville Road and C.S. Floyd Road. If Mom wants to use the carnival as an excuse to get a few hours away from her beloved children, drop-offs can be done in the park

ing lot behind the Rock Gym at 135 Main St.
