Take to task

What’s not working around metro Atlanta

- JOHN THOMPSON FOR THE AJC

New item: Barrow County

Tom Jackson wants something done about a time-challenged traffic light in Barrow County.

“The traffic light on Ga. Highway 316 at Ga. Highway 211 in Barrow County has not been traffic-sensitive for some months now. It holds green on the crossroad, Hwy. 211 for long periods of time when there’s no traffic coming at all, backing traffic up on Hwy. 316. Surely someone in DOT has seen this by now and could have taken steps to fix it,” he wrote.

We sent the item to DOT and will keep you updated.

New item: Interstate 285

Shirish Sahai is concerned over a busy expressway. “As soon as you get off I-85 to get on 285W, big chunks of pavement are missing on I-285W at multiple places. These are not just minor potholes. The entire lane of highway is missing for many feet in multiple sections,” he said.

Update: Atlanta

In February, we told you Linda Brenner’s concern over a leak.

“One block up from our

house, at the corner of Cumberland Road and Cumber

land Circle in Morningside, a hydrant has been leaking for going on two years now. We have called five times to report it and have been told

it’s on a ‘list’ to be resolved. The water flow is substantial

enough that it pools at the bottom of Cumberland Road and Monroe, creating a large mass of ice in cold weather and mud and muck at other times,” she wrote.

City officials said they are still looking into the issue and would report back to us soon.
