Road rage suspect turns self in; no charges filed

The suspect in a road rage stabbing has turned himself in, but Gwinnett County police are not filing charges at this time, according to a department release.

The suspect stopped beside the victim at a stoplight in Peachtree Corners on May 7. He approached the victim’s car door, opened it and stabbed the victim multiple times in the stomach and back, police said. The victim is expected to survive his injuries, according to police.

The suspect turned himself in to Gwinnett County police over the weekend after seeing media coverage of the stabbing. The department did not identify the suspect Monday morning. He was described in an initial report as a man 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 170 lbs., and between 30 and 40 years old with a shaved head.

Charges have not been filed “because the case is still under investigation,” Sgt. Jake Smith said.

“Detectives have to account for the new version of events,” Smith said.

Police will not release further information until the investigation is complete, they said Monday.
