Construction begins on 31-home subdivision

Several AJC readers asked last summer, “What is being built on the corner of Old Scott Road and Holcomb Bridge Road?”

Trees were being cleared in the area and people wanted to know what was happening. An AJC reporter got in touch with the city of Roswell, which confirmed that plans for a new 31- home subdivision had been approved there.

And that proj ec t is now under construction. According to Roswell’s planning and zoning website, crews got to work on the project on May 1.

There has been one change, however. The homes were originally to be built by Traton Homes, a company based in Marietta, but the subdivision is now being built by Taylor Morrison, a home building company based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Traton Homes was calling the project “Calonwilde” but Taylor Morrison has changed the name too, calling it the “Enclave at East Roswell.”

“I don’t know why the project changed hands,” said Mark Wolff, the city’s

deputy director for commu- nity development. “It is fairly common for one developer to take a project through preliminary plat or land disturbance permitting and then sell it. (It) could be for any number of reasons.”

Wolff said the project is broken down into two phases. The first, made up of 21 sin- gle-family lots, is approved for building permits. The second phase, 10 single-family lots, will have an approved final plat next week. Wolff said he is unsure when the project will be completed, but said he expects “a lot of construction activity this summer.”
