My daughters and I had the pleasure of enjoying lunch and a tour of the famous Tate House in Tate, Georgia. We so enjoyed the delicious chicken salad that was served and would appreciate it if the chef would share the recipe for the salad and light dressing. We were awed by the Christmas decorations in every room of the house and beauty of the pink marble that the house is built with, mined right here in our area of Georgia. What a wonderful location for any special occasion, especially weddings. — Jacqui Sherman, Cumming

The 1926 Tate House is an elegant pink marble mansion, a once private home turned into a wedding and special-event venue. The only time it’s open to the public is in December for the Christmas open house which offers lunch and a tour. The chef was happy to share the recipe for the chicken salad. Chicken salad is served as part of the Bridal Cottage all-day package where the bride books the cottage for a day of primping before her evening wedding. It’s also available for those who book a private weekday lunch for 50 or more.

It’s good news that we have the recipe for this honey-mustard seasoned version because the chicken salad will be changing soon. But if you book an event, they are happy to serve you whichever chicken salad version you prefer. Is there a recipe from a metro Atlanta restaurant you’d like to make at home? Tell us and we’ll try to get it. We’ll also test it and adapt it for the home kitchen. Because of volume, we can’t answer all inquiries.
