Basketball league: Boys will be able to improve their skills and have fun during a summer basketball league. Sessions will include warmups and rotating scrimmages. Book signing: A Page from the Book Festival will welcome author of eight New York Times bestsellin­g novels, Emily Giffin, for a book launch party of “All We Ever Wanted.” This novel tells the tale of three intersecti­ng lives brought together by the consequenc­es of a sensitive photo going viral. Giffin will be interviewe­d by local media personalit­y Mara Davis. Tickets to the event, inclusive of the interview, a copy of the book, photos with Giffin and a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception are $30-$35. Book study: The Rev. Angela F. Shepherd will facilitate a book discussion about “The Cross and the Lynching Tree” by James H. Cone. The book addresses the symbolism of trees: One represents hope and faith while the other represents death and oppression for black people in America. Books will be available for purchase in the church office as well as the parish hall on Sundays; participan­ts can also purchase the books independen­tly.
