Basketball league: Boys will be able to improve their skills and have fun during a summer basketball league. Sessions will include warmups and rotating scrimmages. Book signing: A Page from the Book Festival will welcome author of eight New York Times bestselling novels, Emily Giffin, for a book launch party of “All We Ever Wanted.” This novel tells the tale of three intersecting lives brought together by the consequences of a sensitive photo going viral. Giffin will be interviewed by local media personality Mara Davis. Tickets to the event, inclusive of the interview, a copy of the book, photos with Giffin and a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception are $30-$35. Book study: The Rev. Angela F. Shepherd will facilitate a book discussion about “The Cross and the Lynching Tree” by James H. Cone. The book addresses the symbolism of trees: One represents hope and faith while the other represents death and oppression for black people in America.
