Jamaican restaurant in Cobb fails health check
A Jamaican eatery in Kennesaw failed its recent restaurant inspection for various food safety violations, according to Cobb County health department records.
Jamaica’s Best Cuisine, at 2700 Town Center Drive in the Esplanade At Cobb shopping mall, scored a 67 on Friday. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.
The inspector wrote that jerk chicken cooked the night before was being held at an unsafe temperature.
The eatery was also docked points for storing food uncovered and not labeling when some foods were prepared.
There was also a “large hole” in the wall below a sink, according to the report. At another sink, there were no paper towels. The hood ventilation system also must be fixed.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called multiple times Monday for comment. One time, someone picked up, but the line disconnected shortly after a reporter identified themselves.
Jamaica’s Best Cuisine scored a 79 on its Nov. 1 inspection and a 92 five days later.
Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
