Larry Landrum Mulkey, “Snake”, of Covington, passed away July 19, 2018, at the age of 76. Gifted with a quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Mr. Mulkey was a man who loved his family. He hosted a weekly breakfast for loved ones; it was his way to fellowship and stay connected. Mr. Mulkey took great pride in his work and was a dedicated employee for the State of Georgia for many years. In addition to his annual Christmas tradition of candy-making and hosting a family breakfast, Mr. Mulkey was known for his extensive knife collection and his love of the outdoors. He often worked in the garden and enjoyed observing wildlife. Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Vivian Mulkey; sister, Cynthia Newsom, Elaine Nettles; and brother, Timoth Mulkey. Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy J. Mulkey; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhenna and Russ Lutterbie, Ila and Buford Perry, Michelle and Addison Cook, Christal and Stu Gray; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry, II, “Bo” and Samantha Mulkey, Jeffrey and Melissa Mulkey, Cory L. Mulkey; mother-in-law, Elsie Mae Busby; 11 grandchild­ren; 10 step-grandchild­ren; 7 great-grandchild­ren; 2 step-great-grandchild­ren; sisters and brother-in-law, Bonnie Ruth and Ferrell Frazier, Shirley Meyers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Annie Mulkey, David Clayton Mulkey, Masako Mulkey; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Mulkey will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, 1:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. JB Leachman, Pastor Jonathan Rice, Pastor Brandon Smith and Pastor Buford Perry officiatin­g. Mr. Mulkey will lie in state, prior to his service, from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, 6841 Tara Boulevard, in Jonesboro. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday, July 20, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
