State will help with high school funding

The Georgia Board of Education will provide $4,478,192 of constructi­on assistance to Marietta High School.

This month the Marietta Board of Education approved the Marietta City Schools Capital Outlay Contractua­l Agreement for two projects with the state. They are:

■ Marietta High School new constructi­on: $1,478,192

■ Marietta High School mechanical renovation (HVAC): $2,814,170

MCS Superinten­dent Grant Rivera’s recommenda­tion was approved by the Marietta Board for contracts with R. K. Redding Constructi­on Inc. for the College and Career Academy constructi­on, renovation­s and modificati­ons projects at Marietta High School.

The guaranteed maximum price with R. K. Redding is $13,756,110.

In August 2017, R. K. Redding Constructi­on was approved to perform Constructi­on Manager at-risk services for this project.

The project is eligible for capital outlay entitlemen­t of $1,478,192 from the state and the Georgia College and Career Academy Program Grant of $3 million for a combined total $4,478,192 of constructi­on assistance.

The remaining $9,277,918 will come from a 2018 revenue bond and E-SPLOST V.

New con s truction totals $12,323,950 and renovation­s $1,432,160.
