■ Dunwoody Sunday Cycle. 2:30 p.m. Aug. 5. Free. Village Burger, 1426 Dunwoody Village Parkway, Dunwoody. Sponsored by Bike Walk Dunwoody, this monthly community event occurs on the first Sunday of each month, March through November. There is a short preride safety review at 2:30 p.m., and the group sets off at 3 p.m. Helmets are required, and a bicycle with gears is recommende­d to handle the hills. The route is a 4.5-mile loop around Dunwoody with mostly right turns. The group will not ride in inclement weather or over hazardous road conditions. All are welcome. ■ 35th Annual National Night Out by the Brookhaven and Dunwoody Police Department­s. 6-9 p.m. Aug. 7. Free. Perimeter Mall, 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody. Sponsored by the National Associatio­n of Town Watch, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnershi­ps and neighborho­od camaraderi­e to make neighborho­ods safer, better places to live. There will be patrol cars, SWAT vehicles and other specialty vehicles on display. The DeKalb County Fire/Rescue Department also will have firetrucks and other pieces of equipment on display. Police officers, Fire/Rescue personnel and ChatComm 9-1-1 personnel will be on hand to answer questions related to vehicles, personnel or public safety operations. Music and entertainm­ent will be provided along with free food and drinks donated by many local stores and community members.
