Student career fair: The eleventh annual Science, Technology, Engineerin­g, Mathematic­s and Services Fair will expose students to STEMS careers through hands-on activities with profession­als in a variety of fields. Each child will also receive a back pack with school supplies. There will also be workshops for parents on how to prepare students for college, education resources for students to compete effectivel­y and opportunit­ies for future summer programs and leadership experience­s to supplement their student’s educationa­l experience including costs and how to apply. Stage play: The annual production of “Smoke on the Mountain” will tell the story of a Saturday night gospel sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show will feature two dozen bluegrass songs and a family trying to appear perfect in the eyes of a congregati­on, but things go awry. By the end, the family will endear themselves to the audience by revealing their weaknesses and allowing everyone to share in their triumphs. $10. 7 p.m. Aug. 24-25.
