Student career fair: The eleventh annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Services Fair will expose students to STEMS careers through hands-on activities with professionals in a variety of fields. Each child will also receive a back pack with school supplies. There will also be workshops for parents on how to prepare students for college, education resources for students to compete effectively and opportunities for future summer programs and leadership experiences to supplement their student’s educational experience including costs and how to apply. Stage play: The annual production of “Smoke on the Mountain” will tell the story of a Saturday night gospel sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show will feature two dozen bluegrass songs and a family trying to appear perfect in the eyes of a congregation, but things go awry. By the end, the family will endear themselves to the audience by revealing their weaknesses and allowing everyone to share in their triumphs. $10. 7 p.m. Aug. 24-25.
