My dad collected coins during his WWII travels from all over the world. Any German coins with Nazi symbolism, I donated to the Bremen Jewish Heritage Museum, as I wanted those for educational purposes and not in the hands of hate groups. Do you know of a reliable place for me to bring the rest of the coins to get the true value to sell them off ? I was recently disappointed as I took Dad’s pre-1964 silver quarter rolls to a place and was offered $25 a roll. I’m glad I held back as I saw they were selling for $130 a roll on eBay. I do expect the buyer to make some kind of profit, but that was ridiculous! Also, I have my mom’s jewelry. She recently passed, and I need a good appraiser, please. Thanks so much for helping me through this difficult time. — Mary F., email

Mary, I’m going to place you in the capable hands of someone you can trust with your treasures. Joe Ellis and his family have been in the jewelry and coin business for decades. In fact, Ellis’ father opened a coin store in Buckhead in 1969. Today, Ellis, who is a diamonds graduate from the Gemological Institute of America, carries on the tradition at the Silver Dollar, 11680 Alpharetta Highway, Roswell, 678-264-8899, which he opened a few years ago just steps from his family’s former establishment. His pawn shop specializes in coins, silver , gold and fine jewelry. Don’t be put off by the fact that Silver Dollar is a pawn shop; this establishment is as nice as any jewelry store.

My daughter in California has me on a search for a favorite product she can no longer get, B.B. Cream by Boscia, Broad Spectrum SPF 27, oil-free, 1.75 ounce. Can you assist? — R. Morris, Marietta

I know the pain of falling in love with a BB cream and having it cruelly yanked from the company’s product line. Boscia oilfree B.B. Cream was discontinued earlier this year, according to someone I spoke with at the Southern California-based company. I also learned that Boscia has received a good amount of feedback from fans who miss the cream, and there’s talk of possibly bringing back another BB cream to the lineup. In the meantime, I found a re-seller on Amazon offering a few tubes of Boscia B.B. Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 27, oil-free that’s selling for $49.99 each. Note that Amazon also lists Boscia B.B. Cream SPF 27, and the tubes look nearly identical to the light version, but this one doesn’t list that it’s oil free. It’s priced at $83 for a 1.75ounce tube. Boscia isn’t selling these, and you should know that the company can’t guarantee the freshness factor.

I’m looking for an item that keeps guacamole fresh. It’s called Guac-Lock. I don’t want to order it. Thanks. — Marty Miller, email

Casabella Guac-Lock, which stores and keeps guacamole from getting brown, is available for $19.99 at The Container Store, 3637 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, 404-963-9602.

Please help. I have been unable to find Lanacane Maximum Strength Anti-Itch Cream for almost a year. I need the name of a local retailer that carries the cream. I do not want to order it online. Please do not confuse the cream I am inquiring about with the Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel. They have different uses, although both are excellent products. Thank you for your help. — Bernice Atkinson, Jonesboro

You can purchase Lanacane Maximum Strength Anti-Itch Cream at Arrowhead Pharmacy, 188 Upper Riverdale Road, Jonesboro, 770-603-5555. While the store doesn’t stock the cream, if you call the pharmacist, she’ll order it and get your Lanacane in the next day. A one-ounce tube costs $6.17.

You are my only hope to find this particular kind of toothpaste! I may have gotten the last tree tubes from Amazon. It is Crest Pro-Health, just that, not the smooth version or ProHealth Advanced. I’m not even particular about the flavor. I don’t mind ordering online. — Mary Shepherd, Atlanta

As you found out, Mary, Crest offers a wide variety of ProHealth toothpastes in smooth and Advanced formulas. The only Pro-Health toothpaste the company currently offers that isn’t billed as “smooth” or “Advanced” is the one flavored with Scope. You’ll find Pro-Health toothpaste flavored with Scope for $2.99 at Target, 1275 Caroline St., Atlanta, 404-260-0200.

We recently moved my elderly mother-in-law out of her house, and the movers lost one of the finials from her four-poster bed. Can you tell me if there is anyone in the Atlanta area that can make a wooden finial to match? I have attached a photo. You would be solving all of the world’s problems if you can help me out here. Thanks! — Craig Stewart, Marietta

As kids, my siblings and I would love to go to the movies, and we’d each get a Bit-OHoney bar that we could make last throughout the film. I’d love to find these again locally if they’re still around. — Carol Brown, email

Chewy Bit-O-Honey candies have been extracting teeth fillings since 1924. The honey-andalmond taffy is still available in bars and individual pieces. You’ll find both at Intown Ace Hardware, 1404 Scott Blvd., Decatur, 404-378-6006. A 2.7-ounce bar sells for $1.79, and you’ll pay 15 cents for the individual Bit-O-Honey.
