The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Decatur Book Festival. Atlanta theater legend Kenny Leon will serve as the keynote speaker at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 at Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. The keynote speech is free, but you’ll need a ticket. The festival will bring more than 300 well-known authors, including Armistead Maupin and Karin Slaughter, and tens of thousands of readers together for three days of events. Aug. 31-Sept. 2. Free.
